Conference Information

Every year students involved with the Augustana International Relations Union travel around the country and sometimes to other countries to attend various model international organization conferences.  These conferences are places where students from schools around the world come together to act as the United Nations or the League of Arab States or any other international organization, each representing a specific country, and try to deal with issues relevant in the international political sphere.

Model international organization conferences are a wonderful place to learn about issues that are debated in the real UN (or other international political organizations) and what possible solutions there may be to the world's problems.  These conferences also provide an opportunity for Augustana students to meet and interact with unique students from other colleges and universities in a very open environment.

These model international organization conferences, which are in fact very large role-playing simulations, are a great place to sharpen communication, writing and public speaking skills.  Topics for debate at the conferences are wide-ranging which means students can pick an area to study which interests them.
