Involvement

Intramurals

Our members love being active and one way we show our spirit is through intramurals. Over the course of the school year, we have members that participate in a variety of sports and organizations some of which include flag football, dodge ball, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer and more! Competing as a team gives us great opportunities to build strong friendships and show our KT spirit! And if you're not athletically inclined, our teams are always happy to have sisters cheering for them on the sidelines!

Events

In Sigma Kappa Tau, Sisterhood is at the heart of our organization. Whether we are attending football games or going out to various social functions, we continually promote friendship and sisterhood. We host a Late Night and All-School Party each year with various sororities and fraternities on campus. The KTs plan date parties, a semi-formal in December, and a formal in May.

Scholarship

Choosing to be Greek does not mean sacrificing your GPA. On average, Greeks have a higher GPA than independents, or those not affiliated with a Greek group. Our close-knit group allows us to form study groups, help provide or find tutoring for a member, and make sure that each member has time to study and do schoolwork. We feel that academics are a first priority and strive for academic excellence. Our members are tutors within Greek Life and are able to help members find tutors if they are struggling.

Service

Members of the Greek community are required to do at least three hours of community service per term. Each member of the KTs gives nine hours of term back to the community, frequently working with our partner March of Dimes. Annually, we host the "Augie's Top Voice" talent competition to raise money for Augustana's chapter of Camp Kesem. This year we raised over $300 through Augie's Top Voice. Thank you to the Royal Neighbors of America, our judges, participants, and everyone else who made this year a success!

We also participate in and donate to Dance Marathon, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity's Shantytown every year and volunteer frequently in local schools, festivals and fairs around the area, and much more! We feel that support other chapters of Augustana Greek life is essential to strenthen bonds between groups and give back to the community. We plan to participate in the DON's Big Pink Volleyball Tournament, ESA's Sink One for St. Jude Bags Tourament, GAB's Buckethead, and attend the CAP's Mr. Augustana competition, to name a few.
