This is the page to tell you about interesting things about me that are not covered in other sections of the website. This will be a short list...

Theatre
I am a lighting designer. I fritter away much of my summer working with local theatre groups. Most of the time with the Genesius Guild, but I occasionally am talked into other gigs. I was even talked into a monologue in the Greek Comedy this past summer.

The Genesius Guild season runs for 11 weeks each summer with shows every Saturday and Sunday at 8:00pm. I currently serve as Executive Director and have done most of the lighting work for this group each summer for the last 13 summers. Each season includes two Shakespeare productions, one Greek tragedy, one Greek comedy, a collaboration with Opera@Augustana, and Ballet Quad Cities.

Ghostlight Theatre Company has recently closed, but I worked a number of shows with them over the past two seasons. These included "A Christmas Carol", "Gilligan's Island the Musical" and "Noises Off". I have a lot of great photos and soon I will add a photo page for each of these shows.

I have some photos from a show I did in 1998 for a Quad Cities Music Guild production. It ran for six shows and was packed every night. The production was West Side Story and they were looking for a lighting designer with a different style. I assumed that meant they wanted some panache, so they got it!

Community Service
I have been fortunate enough to meet many people in the local not-for-profit community. Many of these connections come from involvement in professional organizations and through the Web Authors Guild (see student groups). I regularly serve many of them with expertise in strategic communications, marketing, planning, and technical information. This includes a range of activities from personally advising their marketing/PR professionals to presenting at board meetings.

I currently sit on the following boards and task forces:

• Community Marketing Plan Task Force – City of Rock Island 

Business Consulting
I do occasional consulting work for small businesses and organizations in Iowa and Illinois. The work typically centers around marketing and communications issues or problems.
