Fundraising Guide

Where does the money go?
It stays here. All of the funds go to University of Iowa Children's Hospital Oncology unit. Your money stays local in Illinois and Iowa and helps kids with cancer. Raised money could go to projects like Comfort Kids, vouchers and care items for all newly diagnosed families, funding for current renovation and improvement of UIHC's Pediatric Floor, or art cart with supplies and materials on the Pediatric Floor at UIHC.

How much money do I need to raise?
Each dancer will be expected to pay a $10 registration fee and collect a minimum of $70 in donations. Of course, there are incentives to raise more than $70 and the more you raise, the more families will benefit.

Where do I send my money?
You may turn in money at any time to the Augustana Office of Student Activities in Brodahl. Donations by friends and family may also be called in to (309) 794-7306 or (800) 798-8100 x7306. We suggest that you pace your fundraising and not wait until the last minute to turn in money. Be sure to attach addresses to your donations so we know where to send thank you letters!

How do I collect the donations?
It's simple to collect donations! Explain what you are doing, and ask them to help by donating an amount they are comfortable with. Be sure to smile and say thank you! Important things to remember:

  • All donations must have a name and address attached to them.
  • Make sure information on checks is current.
  • The Dance Marathon Tax Identification number is 42-0796760 for tax purposes.

What are some ways I can solicit donations?

  • Cans will be available for dancers, which will be used in various places to collect change and donations that would go towards their CMN fund. Possible events include basketball games, softball/baseball games, local community events, OSA events, or church and religious services.
  • Dancers could send out a standard letter explaining what the Dance Marathon is about, what the purpose is, and about CMN, and ask for a small donation. This letter could then be sent out to close friends and family members. Click here for a sample letter in DOC format.
