Research (2013) |
This page focuses on highlights of my professional expression since my last review in 2011. Reviewers are encouraged to examine my CV and also the Research pages of my 2011 and 2009 e-portfolios for a more comprehensive view of my research activities since my arrival at Augustana. My research endeavors since 2011 have centered on the Augustana/Longfellow Number Sense Project. During that time, twelve undergraduates have joined Randy Hengst and I in serving the Longfellow kindergarten, developing apps designed to support the children’s learning, and sharing our efforts in scholarly and professional venues. Tangible outcomes of this work have included: · A peer-reviewed publication [Egan, M. & Hengst, R. (2012). Software on demand: An early childhood numeracy partnership. Contemporary Issues in Technology and Teacher Education, 12(3).] · The publication of two Number Sense apps (Domino 10 Frame and Number ID) co-authored by undergraduates. · Four professional conference presentations (co-presented with undergraduates) including a national peer-reviewed conference (The Association of Teacher Educators, St. Louis, 2014), a regional peer-reviewed conference (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Chicago, 2012), a state-wide peer-reviewed conference (Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, Peoria, 2013), and a regional conference hosted on campus (Augustana’s Promoting Undergraduate Research at Liberal Arts Colleges conference, 2013). · Our undergraduates have also contributed to Augie’s Celebration of Learning each year with poster presentations related to their work. |
