Becoming Biologists / BIOL150
Students explore what it means to be a biologist. Topics include: inquiry, reflection, careers, and study and learning strategies.
General Zoology / BIOL200
Survey of animal diversity, including the evolution, phylogeny, natural history, ecology and physiology of animals.
Examination of the short-term (genetic, developmental, and physiological) and long-term (evolutionary) causes of animal behavior.
Students study the primary literature on bird conservation and use this information to propose a new line of research.
Students are taught how to study biology in the field. Emphasis is placed on asking viable research questions that stem from observations.
