Summer Academy for high school students set for June

February  12, 2016

Summer Academy

Augustana College will hold its annual Summer Academy for high school students during the week of June 19-24. Ranging from two to five days, the academy's courses take an active, hands-on approach within a close learning community based on the beautiful Augustana campus. Evening activities and sometimes field trips also become part of the adventure.

Nearly 150 students attend Augustana Summer Academy every year, enrolling in a variety of college-style courses taught by popular Augustana professors. The experience can help students discover a major field that appeals to both their skills and passions, and can lead to a productive and successful career.

New this year, the Rock Island Community Foundation recently created a $1,000 scholarship to send Rock Island High School students to the 2016 Augustana College Summer Academy.

Joel Thompson, Rock Island Community Foundation Executive Director, said, "The Rock Island Community Foundation is committed to improving the quality of life for Rock Islanders. Helping to send deserving Rock Island students to the Augustana Summer Academy is consistent with this mission."
