Mike Super, magician and illusionist on NBC’s prime-time, live magic competition show “Phenomenon,” will perform his craft at Augustana College at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, in Centennial Hall, 3703 7th Avenue.

With a natural talent to entertain and captivate people, Mike Super goes beyond the “trick” and personally connects with the audience on a level they can relate to. Whether it’s through television, stage or simply one-on-one, Mike Super’s character and humor reaches out and bewitches the public.

“When I develop an illusion, I prepare for any worst-case scenario I can think of, and that way I can switch methods and the audience is never wiser,” Super said. “I use magic as a medium to connect with people. I really think magic has a universal appeal.”

At the age of 6, Super started practicing magic after vising a magic shop in Walt Disney World. Growing up in Pittsburgh, he put on shows for friends in his back yard, charging a nickel admission and wearing a black cape. His passion and obsession with magic has led him to fame and success. In 2013, he was named America’s Entertainer of the Year by Campus Activities magazine.

Since then, Super has made a name for himself by entertaining audiences around the world, including mainstream celebrities Ellen DeGeneres, Jay Leno and Craig Ferguson. Super’s ever-growing popularity has gathered him many prestigious awards and honors, including being named 2011 and 2012 Best Performing Artist of the Year by the International Magician’s Society.

The community is invited to attend. General public tickets cost $10. Starting Monday, Aug. 26, tickets will be available at the Augustana Ticket Office, 3703 7th Avenue, Rock Island, during regular business hours, or they can be charged by phone at (309) 794-7306. Tickets can also be purchased online at Tickets for Augustana faculty/staff and Augustana students free by showing an I.D. at the door.
