Fresh, fast and made to order dining at new CSL

Senior Chef Martin Fleetwood can't wait for the delivery of his new kitchen in the Center for Student Life (CSL).

"The array of food we'll be able to offer is something I am really looking forward to, and we are scheduled to start experimenting with the new grills and programmable ovens in early July," said Fleetwood.

Beginning in August, students will enjoy a variety of dining options at marché stations located throughout the fifth floor of the CSL.

One popular attraction is sure to be the new American Grill where Fleetwood cook over and open fire and serve burgers and one of his favorite selections, the Chicken Philly Sandwich.

The Global Fusion Marché station will be nearby. This will be a preferred stop for those who want to sample cuisine from around the world, including Fleetwood's recipe for Whole Grain Tuscan Spaghetti.

Other marché stations in the new dining facility include Wild Thymes, featuring vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options, and Green Creations, a deli, soups and salads station.

And where would college life be without pizza? Bella Luna, alongside Global Fusion on the east side of the fifth floor, will feature a brick pizza oven and offer custom pizzas, strombolis and calzones.  

Here are four new items Fleetwood expects to be big hits with Augie students, faculty and staff:

• Whole Grain Tuscan Spaghetti: marinated and grilled chicken, fresh garlic, Roma tomatoes, onion and spinach tossed with whole grain pasta

• Chinese Chopped Salad: Romaine lettuce, red cabbage, red pepper, onion, snow peas, almonds, ramen noodles and mandarin oranges tossed in a spicy homemade dressing of ginger, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar and vinegar

• Chicken Philly Sandwich: grilled chicken sautéed in olive oil with bell pepper and onion, covered with provolone cheese and served on a hoagie roll

• Dulce de Leche Brownie: A traditional milk chocolate brownie dunked in a rich Dulce de Leche sauce
