Vikings ranked 18th in NCAA Division III Central Region

Junior Grant Wick is tied for the Augustana team lead with 11 singles wins this season. Wick and his Viking teammates are currently ranked 18th in the NCAA Division III Central Region according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois - Coach Jon Miedema's Augustana men's tennis team finds itself at number 18 in the most recent NCAA Division III Central Region rankings compiled by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Vikings are currently 10-6 overall and went 2-1 last week, with wins over St. Ambrose (8-1) and Edgewood (8-1) and a loss to St. Mary's (3-6).

Augustana is one of three CCIW teams in the rankings. Elmhurst sits in the 15th spot, while Wheaton comes in one spot behind the Vikings at 19th.  

Miedema's squad has won 57 percent of both its singles and doubles matches this season. Number one singles player, sophomore Lawrence Palmer (Schiller International School, El Prat de Llobregat, Spain), sports an 11-8 mark. Junior Grant Wick (Windsor HS, Fort Collins, Colo.) has an 11-7 record, playing anywhere from third to sixth singles.  

Senior Will Palmer (Schiller International School, Leicester, England) and junior Kevin Bayles (Homewood-Flossmoor HS, Flossmoor, Ill.) each have 10 singles wins. Palmer is 10-6 playing at number two and three, while Bayles is 10-10, primarily at number three through five.    2013 NCAA DIVISION III
