Freshman setter Jordan Hampel led the Vikings in assists in 2012 with 859, an average of 8.00 per set.

Vikings finish the 2012 season 20-11; post most victories since 2008; Emily Leazer sets school records for aces and is named Academic All-District and second team All-CCIW

The Augustana volleyball team finished the 2012 season with a 20-11 overall record, posting the program's most victories since a 23-12 campaign in 2008. Coach Jamie Walters' Vikings claimed championships at their own Invitational and the Alverno Classic and went unbeaten at the "Pumpkin Bash" at Carver Center, although they lost the title to Wartburg on tiebreaking criteria. Augustana finished 2-5 in CCIW play before pushing Carthage, a 2011 final four participant, to five sets in the CCIW Tournament play-in round.

Sophomore outside hitter Emily Leazer (St. Viator HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) hauled in considerable honors and ranked among the nation's leaders statistically. She was the Vikings' MVP and a second team All-CCIW selection. She was also named to the Capital One Academic All-District 7 team. She won MVP honors at both the Alverno Classic and Pumpkin Bash, was an all-tournament pick at the Augustana Invitational and was named CCIW Offensive Player of the Week on September 18.

Leazer set a new school record with an average of 0.91 service aces per set, well ahead of the previous record of 0.63 set by Mandy Murray in 2001. On September 14 at the Alverno Classic, she recorded two of the top four single-match ace totals in school history, including a record-tying nine against the host team. She ranked sixth in the nation in aces per set and 15th in points with an average of 4.77 per set. With two seasons to play, she already ranks seventh on Augustana's career aces list with 136. In addition, Leazer led the Vikings in kills with 397 and solo blocks with 16 and was second with 317 digs. Her average of 3.61 kills per set this year is fifth-best in school history and her 31 kills against Wheaton on October 23 are tied for second-most all-time for Augustana in a single match.

Freshman Martha Murray (Evanston Township HS, Evanston, Ill.) was second on the team with 227 kills, fourth with 217 digs and fifth with 29 service aces. Her seven aces against Benedictine-Springfield matched the fourth-highest single match total in school history. Sophomore Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) was third in kills with 211 and was Augustana's most efficient attacker, with a hitting percentage of .322.

A pair of freshmen led Walter's squad in digs and assists. Libero Kylie Siebert (Kaneland HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) had a team-high 475 digs and her average of 4.44 per set is the tenth-best single-season average in school history. She had 44 digs in a match against Dubuque, tying the fifth-highest total in school history. Siebert was also second on the team with 39 service aces and was named the Vikings' "Freshman of the Year." Setter Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) led Augustana with 859 assists and ranked fourth in the CCIW with an average of 8.00 per set. She was third on the team with 222 digs and 37 aces.

The lone senior on the Vikings' roster, Sarah Williams (Rockford Lutheran HS, Loves Park, Ill.), led the team with 74 total blocks -12 solo and 62 assisted - and was fourth with 115 kills . She joined Leazer on the all-tournament teams at the Augustana Invitational, Alverno Classic and Pumpkin Bash.

Sophomore middle hitter Samantha Kammerman (Sherrard HS, Milan, Ill.) won the team's "Augie Award." She ranked fifth on the team in kills (110), fourth in aces (32), second in total blocks (48) and third in solo blocks (11).
