Vikings split matches at Lincoln Christian

Sophomore Dory Dudley put down 20 kills in a loss at Lincoln Christian on Friday night. Augustana split a pair of matches at the Lincoln Christian Triangular, beating Eureka but losing to the hosts. Dudley had a total of 30 kills for the night.

LINCOLN, Illinois - Behind the two-pronged offensive attack of sophomores Dory Dudley (Tremont HS, Tremont, Ill.) and Emily Leazer (St. Viator HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.), Augustana split a pair of matches at the Lincoln Christian Triangular on Friday, October 5 in Lincoln, Illinois. The Vikings defeated Eureka in the first match 3-1 (25-14; 17-25; 25-6; 25-16) before falling to host Lincoln Christian in a hard fought five-set match 3-2 (14-25; 25-17; 28-26; 16-25; 11-15) in the nightcap.

Leazer recorded 31 kills on the night while Dudley had 30 as they were the only two Augustana players in double digits in the kill department. Leazer had 18 kills against Eureka and 13 in the Lincoln Christian match while Dudley recorded 10 against Eureka and pounded down 20 in the loss to Lincoln Christian.

Augustana is now 14-6 on the season heading into a College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin match on Wednesday, October 10 against Millikin in Decatur, Illinois.

AUGUSTANA 3, EUREKA 1 (25-14; 17-25; 25-6; 25-16)

With the match tied at one set apiece, the Vikings dominated the next two and came away with a 3-1 victory over Eureka. Augustana won the first set 25-14 and lost the second 25-17 before ripping the Red Devils 25-6 in the third and getting the clincher in the fourth by a score of 25-16.

Leazer collected 18 kills and Dudley had 10 lead the Augustana attack. Leazer also had 10 digs and seven service aces while Dudley had three assisted blocks and two digs. Sophomore Samantha Cameraman (Sherrod HS, Milan, Ill.) posted five kills with three digs and two assisted blocks and freshman Jordan Hampel (Hilliard Davidson HS, Hilliard, Ohio) had five kills and also had 36 assists, 12 digs and four service aces. Freshman Kylie Siebert (Kane land HS, Sugar Grove, Ill.) had a team high 20 digs.

LINCOLN CHRISTIAN 3, AUGUSTANA 2 (25-14; 17-25; 26-28; 25-16; 15-11)

Dudley exploded for a career-high 20 kills but it was not enough as the Vikings fell in a five-set match to Lincoln Christian. Dudley only had four hitting errors in 36 attempts and finished the match with a .444 hitting percentage. She also had three digs, two solo blocks and two assisted blocks. 

Augustana dropped the first set 25-14 but bounced back with 25-17 and 28-26 wins in sets two and three. Lincoln Christian won the fourth set 25-16 and then took the decisive fifth set 15-11.

Leazer had 13 kills with 16 digs, one solo block and one service ace.

Senior Sarah Williams (Rockford Lutheran HS, Loves Park, Ill.) had eight kills with just one error in 19 attempts for a .368 hitting percentage and she had one solo block and one assisted block.

Hampel had 50 assists with five service aces, 12 digs and two kills. Siebert had 20 digs and junior Katrina Colclasure (Tri-Valley HS, Bloomington, Ill.) picked up 14 digs.
