Vikings pegged for fourth by CCIW coaches

Senior Kirsten Boesen is one of 15 letterwinners returning to the Augustana women's soccer team this fall. The Vikings are projected to place fourth in the CCIW according to the coaches' poll.

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Coach Scott Mejia's Augustana Vikings have been picked for fourth place in this year's College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin pre-season soccer coaches' poll. The Vikings received 32 points in the poll. Defending league champion Wheaton is expected to repeat, with 49 points and seven first-place votes. Illinois Wesleyan got the remaining first-place nod.

Mejia is entering his 12th season at Augustana, where he's compiled a 148-57-17 (.705) record, including 49-21-7 (.682) in CCIW play with a conference championship in 2009. He returns 15 letter winners and 4 starters from last year's club, which went 11-8-1 overall and finished third in the CCIW at 4-3-0. Leading the Vikings will be first team All-CCIW returnee Taylor Moesle (Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) . Moesle, a senior midfielder, was Augustana's Offensive MVP a year ago when she tied for the team lead in goals with seven and led the team in assists with eight. Other key returnees for the Vikings will be senior Kirsten Boesen (Normal Community West HS, Gibson City, Ill.) , junior Briana Clark (Nazareth Academy, LaGrange, Ill.) , and sophomore Morgan Olsen (Downers Grove North HS, Woodridge, Ill.) .
