Editor will discuss new book

December  05, 2011

Dr. Kathleen S. Hurty

Co-editor of the new book Women, Spirituality and Transformative Leadership: Where Grace Meets Power, Dr. Kathleen S. Hurty will introduce the book, read a short selection and demonstrate sacred circles on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 4:30-5:30 p.m. The free, public event will take place on the second floor of the Thomas Tredway Library (3435 9½ Ave.).

Published by SkyLight Paths, the book blends the interdisciplinary approach of a Buddhist nun, a certified listening professional, the cofounder of Gather the Women Global Matrix and Dr. Hurty’s experience as a teaching fellow at Lutheran Theological Seminary. The result is a collection of essays on women’s spiritual leadership power.

In addition to teaching, Dr. Hurty is a consultant for the Council for the Parliament of the World’s Religions. Her experience includes public school teaching and administration as well as ecumenical and community leadership. She also does grant writing and research for non-profit, faith-based organizations interested in collaborative approaches to justice and social change.

Books will be available for purchase, and Dr. Hurty will sign books.
