2011 Season - 2011 football schedule announced

Rob Cushman's first game as the Augustana head coach will be Thursday, September 1 against the University of Dubuque at home. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Augustana head football coach Rob Cushman will make his debut as the leader of the Viking program on September 1, 2011 against the University of Dubuque. The Spartans, 4-6 in 2010, visit Ericson Field for a rare 7:00 p.m. Thursday contest that will be the first of six home games for Augustana this season.

The rest of the non-conference portion of this year’s slate includes a 1:00 p.m. road date on Saturday, September 10 at Central College in Pella, Iowa and a home game against Adrian College at noon on Saturday, September 17. The Dutch of Central—like Dubuque, a member of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference—went 8-2 a year ago. The Adrian Bulldogs, out of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, finished 5-5 in 2010.

After an idle week, the Vikings open CCIW play on Saturday, October 1 at home against Millikin. The 6:00 p.m. contest will be part of Family Weekend festivities at Augustana.

The Vikings also have home dates against Carthage, North Park and Elmhurst and will face defending CCIW champion North Central, Wheaton and Illinois Wesleyan on the road. The October 15 matchup with Carthage will be one of three home games played under the lights at Ericson Field, with a 6:00 p.m. start. The 1:00 p.m. contest with North Park on October 22 will be Augustana’s homecoming.
