2008-09 Season - Tricia Crawford and Jenna Richardson named to CCIW women's tennis all-conference team

Rock Island, Ill. – Sophomores Tricia Crawford (Decorah HS, Decorah, Iowa) and Jenna Richardson(Melrose Park Walther Lutheran HS, Bellwood, Ill.) were named to the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women’s tennis all-conference team on Tuesday, October 16.  They were both selected by the CCIW coaches for the second team. 

Crawford and Richardson were joined on the second team by Taylor Gustafson of Carthage, Brittney Dunn and Kayli Edwards of Wheaton, and Sarah Rusch of Illinois Wesleyan.  The first team was comprised of Jordan Hook, Shannon Hale, and Brooke Parrish of Wheaton, Beth Kaufman and Gina Klein of Carthage, and Allison Heim of Illinois Wesleyan.

Hook was named “Player of the Year”, Kaufman was selected as “Tournament MVP”, and Jane Nelson of Wheaton was named “Coach of the Year.”

Crawford played number one singles and number one doubles for the Vikings in all of the CCIW matches in her sophomore season.  She has played every match at number one doubles for Augustana over the past two years.  Crawford was 5-11 in singles and 6-13 in doubles this fall.  She earned a third place finish with sophomore Emily Doemland (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) in the number one doubles flight at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.  Crawford was 3-3 in CCIW singles matches, defeating Millikin, Elmhurst, and North Central.  She reached the semi-finals of the playback bracket in both singles and doubles at the conference tournament.

Richardson played number two singles and number two doubles for Augustana in CCIW competition.  She also played several matches at number one singles against non-conference opponents after leading the team with 18 singles victories last season.  Richardson was 11-9 in singles and 7-10 in doubles this fall.  She had a team best six match winning streak in the middle of the season and finished fourth in the number two singles flight at the conference tournament.  Richardson completed a strong showing at the CCIW Championships by teaming with sophomore Kaitlin Kulovitz(

The Vikings finished the fall portion of the season at 8-6 overall with a 4-2 mark in the CCIW.  Augustana compiled 37 points at the CCIW Championships, placing third as a team.  It is the highest finish for the Vikings since 2001, when the team was also third.
