Plans after graduation
I'm going to library school at the University of Illinois.
How did Augustana prepare you for life after graduation?
Augustana taught me to ask questions and work hard. Also, I got a lot of experience working at the library, which probably helped me get into grad school.
What are you looking forward to about life after graduation?
It will be exciting to live in a new town, but I'm going to miss my friends. School-wise, it'll be nice to concentrate on library work.
What will you miss about Augustana?
I'm going to miss the students and faculty of the art department. I'm also going to miss the reference librarians terribly.
What was your favorite memory from Augie?
My favorite specific memory might be when my painting class was stretching canvas, and I asked Peter Xiao: "Is this too loose?" And he said: "Toulouse Lautrec?" Or maybe my favorite memory was when I finally finished my senior seminar paper for English.
What advice would you give to current students?
Whether you're painting or writing, revise your work. Put it away for a few days (or months or years) to give yourself distance, and then revise-hard work is the key to being good at something.
