2009-2010 Season - Win over St. John Fisher caps successful trip

Thanks to an impressive 8-1 win over St. John Fisher on Thursday, March 4 in Hilton Head, South Carolina, the Augustana women’s tennis team completed a successful spring break trip. The Vikings went 3-1 on the sojourn and have now moved to 9-10 overall on the season.

Jenna Richardson (Melrose Park Walther Lutheran HS, Bellwood, Ill.) defeated Elena Vahl at number one 6-3; 6-4. Tricia Sapio (Barrington HS, Hoffman Estates, Ill.) handled Katie Catolano at number two 6-2; 6-2. Tricia Crawford (Decorah HS, Decorah, Iowa) beat Katelyn Smith 6-1; 6-2 at number three. Emily Doemland (Downers Grove South HS, Westmont, Ill.) took the measure of Marissa Rotondo at number four by scoring identical 6-0; 6-0 set victories. Krista Panko (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) beat Sarah Zarzeczny at number five 6-1; 6-0.

Richardson and Tricia Crawford beat Vahl and Rotondo 8-5 at number one doubles. Doemland and Sapio teamed at number two doubles to beat Catolano and Jordan Brungard 8-4. Justine Stukas (Downers Grove North HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) and Meghan Wethington (Geneseo HS, Geneseo, Ill.) defeated Zarzeczny and Smith 8-6.
