2009-2010 Season - Vikings fall to Duhawks in men's swimming

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Augustana men’s swimming team dropped to 2-2 in dual meets after a 123-108 loss to Loras on Friday, December 11 in Dubuque, Iowa.  Freshman Marcus Julian (Lake Park HS, Itasca, Ill.) notched an individual title in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.12) and also swam the second leg on the winning 200 medley relay squad.  He combined with senior Eric Zike (Ridgeview HS, Colfax, Ill.), junior Drew Clinton (Riverside-Brookfield HS, Brookfield, Ill.), and senior Kyle Waller (DeKalb HS, DeKalb, Ill.) for a finish in 1:44.26.

Senior Jacob Glimco (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) also won a pair of individual events, sweeping the one meter and three meter diving events.  Sophomore Robert Flynn (Bartlett HS, Bartlett, Ill.) took second in both events.

Julian added a second place showing in the 200 individual medley (2:11.57), one of several runner-up finishes by the Vikings.  Freshman Chris Greaves (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.) was second in the 200 freestyle (1:50.71) and the 500 freestyle (5:11.84).  Waller placed second in the 50 freestyle (:23.31) and the 100 freestyle (:52.02).  Clinton and Zike were the other two Vikings to earn runner-up showings in the dual meet.  Clinton finished the 100 butterfly in a time of :58.67 and Zike hit the finish with a clocking of 1:01.62 in the 100 backstroke.

Augustana’s other runner-up finish came in the final event of the day, where the quartet of Greaves, Flynn, sophomore Denny Wind (Downers Grove North HS, Downers Grove, Ill.), and Clinton finished the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.47.

Senior Will Danay (Muscatine HS, Muscatine, Iowa) turned in a couple third place finishes, taking third in the 100 freestyle (:53.20) and the 200 freestyle (1:59.94).  Glimco was third in the 1000 freestyle (11:50.52) and Zike took third in the 200 individual medley (2:14.64).
