ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Junior Jenna Richardson (Melrose Park Walther Lutheran HS, Bellwood, Ill.) was honored as the “Most Valuable Player” for the women’s tennis team for the third straight season, it was announced at the team’s post season banquet. The women’s tennis team, under third year head coach Adam Strand, finished the season with a 14-13 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin. It is the second straight winning season for the Vikings.

Reece was 14-12 in singles in her first year at Augustana. She played primarily in the No. 5 slot where she compiled a 9-10 mark. Reece was also 5-1 at No. 6 singles and 0-1 in the No. 4 slot. The freshman also made her presence felt in the doubles lineup where she finished the season with an 11-11 record. She was 8-9 with sophomore Justine Stukas (Downers Grove North HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) at No. 3 doubles.

Sapio led the team with 17 singles wins in her sophomore season, compiling a 17-14 mark for the Blue & Gold. She was 16-12 at No. 4 singles and 1-2 in limited action at the No. 3 slot.
