Bureau of Justice Statistics: (U.S. Department of Justice): The emphasis in this collection is on crime and criminal justice statistics.
Cornell's Legal Information Institute : Outstanding source for statutes and case law, plus coverage of current developments. Good info on cases currently before the Supreme Court, extensive archive of historical Supreme Court decisions.
Justia: Easy to use for finding cases, good for downloading. Also covers legal news. The legal commentary section, called Verdict, is an excellent source of articles on current legal issues.
The Founder's Constitution: a rich collection of historical documents from the time period when the Constitution was written. Maintained by the University of Chicago.
Illinois Courts: An extensive collection of information on the Illinois court system, including Supreme Court opinions, Appellate court opinions, and information about circuit courts (local trial courts). Illinois statutes can be accessed from the General Assembly's web site.
Oyez Project : a multifaceted resource on the Supreme Court maintained by IIT Chicago-Kent Law School. Excellent for contemporary legal issues.
