Latin American Council Latin American Council is a group of students and professors whom share an interest in promoting the awareness of Latin American culture both on campus as well as in the community. The group raises funds through campus events. Some events include taco dinners and the annual "Fiesta Latina." The money that is raised has been used to benefit educational projects in rural areas of Latin America, including areas in Mexico, Peru, and Chile. One of the customary projects involves annual monetary and material contributions to the construction and development of a handicap school in Paucarpata, Peru. This past year, the group was able to give a scholarship for one child to attend school in Punta Arenas, Chile. The group looks forward to becoming more involved in the community, through such volunteer programs as the Boys and Girls Club as well as sponsoring more community/campus events.
