Minutes- September 26, 2004

-On Sunday, October 10, we will have our own Oktoberfest grill-out at 1 p.m. at a location to be announced (on campus). Invite all your friends, and then email sarah-nelson and let her know how many people you plan to bring so that we can plan how many brats to buy. The brats will be sold to your friends so that German Club can make some money.  Also mention if you want a vegetarian brat!

--On Saturday, October 16th, Sarah (and probably Dan) will be meeting with a lady from the German Heritage Center in Davenport.  They will discuss, among other things, internship and job opportunities for German students at Augustana, since the Center is rather understaffed at the moment.  If you are interested in an internship or job and HAVE A CAR, let Sarah know!  The Center is also trying to start a Zither band (the only one in the country!), so if you are interested in Zither lessons, let Sarah know that as well.

--On Sunday, October 17th, we will be watching Run Lola Run and eating spaetzle at 6 pm in Olin. Room to be announced via email.

--Peter is still working on German Club t-shirt designs.  The secretary would like to suggest the following quotation for the back of the shirt: "If no one's going to help us, we're going to have to do this illegally."  Sarah would like to note THIS IS JUST A JOKE! ;)

--At the last meeting, we voted for dues of $5/term.  The treasurer is collecting dues now.  Dues are very important because we do not recieve SGA funding and the German department is rather lacking in funds as well.  PLEASE PAY YOUR DUES TO LAURA ANDERSON! Fundraising will start in a few months as well; we are planning tentitively to sell German candy.
