Residential Life

Andreen Hall Andreen lounge Swanson Commons Swanson room

Each of our residence halls has an area coordinator (AC) who lives in the building. These staff members all have master's degrees and they coordinate hall activities, student conduct and security.  Each floor has a student community advisor (CA), who your student will have easy access to for advice and assistance. The Office of Residential Life is coordinated by a full-time director, who may also provide assistance to your student.

All students (domestic and international) are required to live on campus through their junior year, unless they receive special permission from the Office of Residential Life and after consultation with the Office of International Student Life. First-year and sophomore students live in our traditional residence halls, which are co-ed by floor.  These halls have restrictions on visitation and prohibit alcohol.  Housing selection is coordinated by a lottery system. Juniors usually choose to live in our Transitional Living Areas (TLAs) which have open visitation and for those students over the age of 21, permit alcohol in the residence.

Augustana provides a variety of environments to meet the individual needs of our students.

The residential environment is governed by a variety of rules and regulations. These are explained in the Residential Life handbook. Your student is expected to read through this handbook so that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of living on campus.
