This Week's Message

No matter if you've been away since May or here all summer, it is really wonderful to see everyone on campus again. And what better way to start the fall term Friday Conversation series than to break out one of our brand new toys and take it for a spin!

As you know, we are trading in our old-school paper and pencil IDEA course feedback process and jumping up to the shiny online version. The new system includes an updated set of learning objectives as well as some very cool improvements to the set of course experience items. Equally important, the new system introduces a whole new level of flexibility in adding customized questions.

A team of folks, on campus and off, have been working hard all summer to get this system up and running by the beginning of the fall term. We hope to go "live" with it soon, although we don't exactly know when we will complete all of the pre-release testing.

In the meantime, I know that you all need to see exactly what the new system will look like and get the chance to ask a lot of questions.

So at the first Friday Conversation of the fall 2017, AKA Friday, August 25th at 4 PM, I will host a demonstration and a conversation about how we can take full advantage of the IDEA updates and the new platform. Refreshments will be served in Olin Auditorium lobby at 3:30 PM.

Since we will need the full complement of technological bells and whistles, will be in Olin Auditorium.  Bring your laptop, tablet, or smartphone!

See you on Friday afternoon!

Have a great week,

Mark Salisbury
Assistant Dean and Director of Institutional Research and Assessment
