Welcome to fall term 2013!
In implementing the suggestions from the Faculty Development Working Group's 2013 report, the Augustana Center for Teaching and Learning will become the Center for Faculty Enrichment. This year, I'll continue to coordinate faculty development efforts for the new CFE, but we will also be searching for a (faculty) Director and a Faculty Fellow, as well as identifying a physical space to house the Center in the months ahead (details to come).
I will provide regular updates regarding faculty development initiatives in the faculty newsletter, as well as sending out the usual emails. In the next few weeks, you can look for information about:
- The call for our 2013-14 Blended Learning and Community Connections grants. Just like last year, we'll be offering small grants to faculty interested in developing courses that use blended learning technology and pedagogy, or that find new ways to engage with our Quad City Community.
- Faculty Writing Retreat days. We'll be reserving part of Tredway Library for days during fall, winter, and spring breaks where faculty can come and work on their writing projects in the company of others (and with a vat of coffee available).
- Department chair support and training and brown bag (well, CSL) lunches on a variety of topics.
Have a great Week One, everyone.
