This Week's Message

Dear Colleagues,

Most of you in one way or another have been engaged in the discussion, drafting and refining of Augustana 2020, our strategic plan. This week a large contingent of faculty, administrators and a few students will be meeting with the Board of Trustees in Chicago, presenting what we hope is a near-final version of Augustana 2020.

We anticipate that the board will endorse this draft so that we can begin our work. Augustana 2020 will not be achieved by words alone, but needs our collective commitment so that we can together charge ahead with the vision and strategies set forth by this plan: a vision that was generated collectively and builds on our strengths and opportunities.

Because so many of your colleagues will be away from campus, we will not have a Friday Conversation on January 24; however, the Friday Conversation on January 31 will be devoted to discussion of Augustana 2020 and what it will take to implement it. I hope you will plan to attend the Friday Conversation on the 31st and share your thoughts and questions about the plan's implementation.

Pareena Lawrence
Provost and Dean of the College
