This Week's Message

Dear Faculty,

I have been thinking a lot lately about planning, vision and purpose, as I try to put it all together in light of the ongoing conversations on campus and the work that we have already accomplished and that lies ahead of us.

Our purpose as educators and scholars gives our work meaning and context. At the same time, our collective vision for the future gives us the clarity and direction to pursue that vision.

We continue to refine our vision and develop opportunities and strategies that will help us realize this vision for our students, faculty and our Augustana community.

Part of the vision for faculty that we have articulated together is to be "architects of a vibrant intellectual community." We have the opportunity to build a part of this vibrant intellectual community with the launch of the Celebration of Scholarship on Monday, February 18 at noon in the atrium on the second floor of Hanson Hall of Science.

Come and engage with your colleagues and their work. Share your passion and creativity with them. We hope to make this an annual campus event that will build bridges across disciplines and generate increased interdisciplinary dialogue and communication within an engaged community of scholars.
