Volume 8, Issue 30 - May 9, 2011

Greetings from the Center for Teaching & Learning.

The faculty has now voted for a "load reduction within a trimester calendar." (Over 67% of those voting chose to retain trimesters; over 64% for the load reduction. In my time here those sure feel like landslides!) As always, big changes are afoot! Regardless of how you voted we will all now be asked to give serious consideration to our curricula and ways that we can best serve our students within a new framework.

Two other developments will be high on ACTL's priority list next year: the complete transition to the IDEA Student Rating of Instruction and the introduction of AugieFolio, a new learning eportfolio designed to help students document and manage their learning. With all these changes, we will do everything we can to provide resources and training to help individuals and departments take full advantage of the new opportunities that next year will bring.

It's certainly been an interesting year! I hope that it has also been a rewarding and fulfilling year for you, that you finish this year strong and that your future looks even brighter.
