This Week's Message

Update on Teagle III

Dear colleagues,

As you know, Augustana College is participating in a four-year grant that will study the relationship between high-impact practices and faculty work.  (The new Teagle grant is described in more detail here.) Our central question for this project is, "How can we re-imagine faculty work differently to allow us to better use high-impact practices in our courses?" [Include link for high-impact practices:]

The grant imagines that we'll ask and answer this question through a variety of curricular experiments offered across our consortium campuses.  Some of these pilots might involve embedding new practices into existing structures, and others might require imagining new structures entirely. We hope to offer pilots across this spectrum; for example, some faculty members here are working on ways to better use class time for application and problem-solving, while others have been developing two different immersion term opportunities for students next fall.

If you'd like to learn more about the grant or brainstorm ways that you might be able to participate in subsequent years, I'd be happy to talk with you.  Also look for a Friday Conversation on Teagle III that will take place during spring term.

Happy week 10, everyone!
