Greetings from the Center for Teaching and Learning!

I am very excited to have the opportunity to be working with the Faculty and Staff in my new role as director of ACTL, even though the shoes left by Mike Green seem several sizes too big!

Let me first say that we have a really talented group of new faculty that have joined us this year. I have very much enjoyed working with them over the past week during their orientation. If you haven't had a chance to meet them, I'd like to encourage you to seek them out, introduce yourself and welcome them to our community. You'll find a list of the new faculty with descriptions and pictures of most of them at the ACTL moodle site ( ).

While you're there, take a moment to peruse the list of resources that are available through the moodle site. The site was begun by Mike and contains some excellent resources covering a wide range of topics. I will be updating the site frequently so please visit often and make suggestions for tools or resources you would like to see included.

In addition to suggestions for the moodle site, you will soon be receiving a survey soliciting your suggestions for other ACTL programming. I will be very interested to hear both what programming you would like to see offered and what programming you may be able to offer to the community as we seek to support the excellent teaching that is going on across campus. I also hope to visit each department over the course of the year, and would like to thank the Education and Religion departments for inviting me already!

Lastly, I would like you to know that the Center for Teaching and Learning has a physical location: 118 Evald. While currently in a state of some disarray as I try to get organized, I invite you to stop on down when you get a chance.

I look forward to working with all of you as we seek to support excellence in teaching and enhance student learning.
